  3. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

So, I have a few GIFs I actually made that I want to post, but the approved hosts here have strict size limits, and these are larger than the limit. I've tried to shrink them down and compress them to get them under the limit but when I do, they look like absolute shit with awful colors and darkening to the point it looks like I intentionally darkened them or made them old school low definition. Obviously, it can be done successfully, what am I missing?

imgBB allows up to 32MB :thinks: Or are you talking about the dimensions?
You can try with redgifs.com, which is "allowed" too. But it will convert your gif to a mp4 (and then you'll need to change the thumbnail).
Are you using a software or a site to optimize them?
Or upload one to a filehost and post it here. Maybe someone can help you.

It's a shame Phun doesn't support embedded MP4 or WebM files directly, instead of the rather antiquated gif. Would be much smaller in filesize & superior in quality.
